For his directorial debut Rigor Mortis (2013), Juno Mak lent his pioneering vision to a Chinese vampire movie tradition that had vanished from the market for nearly 30 years. Rigor Mortis was invited for screenings at over 30 international film festivals and won eight awards worldwide, including the FIPRESCI Prize at Golden Horse, which was based on an international jury’s recommendations. Released in over 20 countries, the film grossed more than US$6 million in its overall box office.
